If your backyard has real grass or dirt, we prepare the area by excavating to approximately 70mm below the finished height. Then we fill up the area with crusher dust, level and compact it to ensure the finished result is perfectly level and smooth. We install the synthetic lawn over the top of the compacted crusher dust layer and secure it around the edges using 150mm u-pins. If there are any joins required, we use industry standard joining tape and specialised synthetic grass outdoor glue. Once the lawn is secured, we fill it in with either sand or our pet friendly granules and brush it using a power broom tool. This part of the installation ensures that the backing is protected, the lawn stands up nicely and, if you have pets, will stay smell free with our pet fresh infill.

Yes, absolutely. Our products undergo rigorous testing and comply with high international standards. They are free of heavy metals and any harmful materials or toxins. 

The synthetic grass products we use have drainage holes in the backing to allow water to drain through quickly. Our compacted crusher dust base, installed under the lawn, also helps with drainage. This matters just as much around pool surrounds as it does in a backyard. However, if you have an existing drainage problem, we advise you to speak to a plumber and have it repaired before arranging your synthetic lawn installation. Synthetic grass typically comes in rolls around two, three, and four metres wide, which lets us cover most backyards, balconies, and courtyards with as few joins as possible. Standard synthetic lawn isn’t designed for regular vehicle traffic, so we wouldn’t recommend parking a car on it day to day, as the weight can flatten the fibres and stress the backing over time. Light, occasional use, like wheeling a bin across it, is generally fine. If you need a surface that handles vehicles regularly, such as a driveway or parking area, let us know at the quoting stage so we can recommend a heavier-duty product built for that kind of load.

Properly installed synthetic lawn dramatically reduces weed growth, since we lay a weed membrane underneath before the turf goes down. That said, no installation is completely weed-proof forever, as windblown seeds can occasionally take hold at the edges or in seams over time. This applies to any setting, from a full backyard installation to a smaller courtyard. A quick check every few months, and pulling out anything that appears, keeps it from becoming a bigger issue.

Yes, synthetic lawn works well on balconies and courtyards, though these spaces need a slightly different approach to drainage and installation than a standard backyard.
